One of my greatest rewards is when customers return to us years later to help them with their next property transaction.

Ian Robertson - Managing Director, reflects on 40 years of estate agency

In the early 1980’s, I started as a junior negotiator with the estate agent, Keith Steven. The next eight years saw Keith Steven grow considerably. Eventually, I became the branch manager of the Ware office.

In the late 1980’s, Keith Steven was sold to a large corporation. For a brief spell, I was area manager of a group of offices in south Hertfordshire. But I soon became disillusioned by the impersonal nature of corporate estate agencies.

Keith Sampford and I agreed to set up anew. In 1990, Keith Ian was formed. Our first office was in High Street, Cheshunt. We quickly established ourselves as the market leader.

Soon after, we obtained offices in Ware and Buntingford. Keith Ian has gone from strength to strength. Helping customers buy and sell homes along the A10 corridor.

Sadly, in 2003 we lost Keith to ill health. Keith’s ethos of customer service has remained our core value.

Since the nineties, the property market has seen huge changes, from slump to boom. I have seen mortgage interest rate percentages, as high as the mid-teens to unbelievably low rates, below 2%.

One of my greatest rewards is when customers return to us years later to help them with their next property transaction.

I am confident that whatever the property market throws at us, Keith Ian will be here for our customers.
